One of the many characters that abdulrashade grew up with when he was a kid – the rooster. In classic Malay comic tale, as told in Pak Kaduk’s story, the rooster symbolises courage, the fighting spirit and refusal to surrender. “I’m painting this on the wall because it’s relatable to most of Malaysians. I want to bring back the memories of these folklores and allow people to connect to my pieces. After all, this is the kind of story that most of us grew up with.” This piece was painted on November 2016, in Jelatek.
